HP is rethinking its mobile strategy and may get back into the smartphone business. Speaking to The Indian Express, HP Senior Director Consumer PC and Media Tablets Asia Pacific Yam Su Yin said the company would be foolish to ignore the smartphone market and was looking to produce a smartphone that would offer a “differentiated experience.”
Yin’s comments didn’t hint at when the phone would debut or what platform HP would choose. Windows Phone is possible as HP has a long-term partnership with Microsoft in the PC hardware business. The company could also produce an Android phone to go along with its Slate 7 Android tablet. At this point, we will just have to wait and see what HP has up its sleeve.
