Square Market brings Square merchants online

Square has launched a new service called Square Market to allow its merchants to sell their goods online.

Under the deal, each merchant gets its own small e-store that includes the business’ key information — including hours of operation, location, contact information and links to social media — as well as a small catalog of products offered for sale online. The design of the store is as straightforward as it can be, making it easy for interested buyers to find and buy products they want.

Stores are free to create, and Square will make money by charging 2.75% per transaction, just like it does in the “real world” when merchants use the Square Reader.

So if you’re already a Square merchant there’s really no reason not to create a store on the Square Market. It’s free after all, and you get a new venue to showcase your offering.
