Verizon Wireless is considering new ways to let customers pay for handsets, according to Verizon Communications Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo. Speaking to media and investors, Shammo referred to Verizon Edge, a program previously a rumor that would allow customers to finance handsets over time. Shammo said that the company has held a number of focus groups over the last six months regarding device purchasing and frequency of device upgrades, and plans to offer new options soon. Shammo said that Verizon Wireless will have more specific information on Edge and handset financing/upgfrade plans soon.
