Just when we thought Acer isn’t interested to compete in the higher ends of the market, the company surprised us with its new Liquid S2 phablet, touting it as the first handset with 4K Ultra HD recording capability. This means 3840 x 2160 pixels, which is pretty impressive.
That camera has a 13-megapixel sensor, while the rest of the specs include a 6-inch full HD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, LTE connectivity support, 3,300mAh battery, NFC and 16GB of expandable storage. There’s also a 2-megapixel front camera for video calls.
Availability wise, Acer will start selling the Liquid S2 in Europe in October. Price was not unveiled, though.
As for the Iconia A3, it’s a decent tablet featuring a 10.1-inch full HD screen, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, Dolby Digital Plus sound, 5-megapixel camera on the back, Wi-Fi and optional 3G connectivity, and 16 or 32 GB of expandable storage. It will start selling in October in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Wi-Fi version will cost 249 EUR, while the 3G-enabled model will go for 50 EUR more, hitting the stores a month later in November.
