TikTok will remain available and in business in the US for now, as the Commerce Department finally announced today that it will not enforce the order — that was set to go into effect today — which would have effectively shut down the app in the US. In delaying enforcement, the Commerce Dept. is honoring a preliminary injunction issued by a Philadelphia judge. In August, the Trump administration announced plans to ban the Chinese app. TikTok has since been scrambling to arrange a new legal and corporate structure for TikTok in the US that would involve more US-based control and ownership. A potential deal involving Walmart and Oracle has been floated, but TikTok complained earlier this week that the Trump administration has ceased communicating with the company on whether and how to proceed with the deal.
