We know Xiaomi wants to grow its user base beyond China (with Hong Kong and Taiwan), and may even use the upcoming CES to officially announce its global ambitions. Meanwhile, the fast-growing vendor has opened a Facebook page in Singapore, which is often “used” as a regional center for many multinational corporations. In other words, the firm is setting the stage for entering the Southeast Asian markets.
Meanwhile, other smaller vendors are looking to expand beyond the borders of China as well, including Meizu and Oppo. In fact, Oppo is already offering few of its device in their unlocked form to customers in Europe and the U.S. We’ll see whether Xiaomi (and Meizu for that matter) will follow the same pattern or will find a way to reach a mutual ground with few local carriers and get to customers’ hands that way.
All said, we’re looking forward to an interesting year for the fans of Xiaomi, Meizu and Oppo. Expect to hear much more from this trio in the months to come…
