MediaTek plans on releasing 64-bit quad and octa-core chips for the smartphone market, next quarter. The company is moving a month ahead of schedule in releasing the two chips. The MT6732 will be the quad-core solution, while the MT6752 will be an octa-core version of the 64-bit processor. Ever since Apple released the 64-bit A7 processor for the Apple iPhone 5s, silicon slingers have been hard at work to offer their own 64-bit chips. Qualcomm, which originally called the Apple release a gimmick, ended up doing a 180 degree reversal.
