MetroPCS has quietly launched a new limited-time promotional plan to drive phone sales for dealers, in that the brand has announced a $30 smartphone plan with 1GB of monthly data, driving down the cost of mobile data access even further, while also including throttled data access after the 1GB of data is used during the month.
While Cricket and Boost Mobile currently offer $35 monthly plans with more data, those have catches such as throttled speeds, spotty LTE coverage and autopay requirements, while Metro’s plan is a flat $30 monthly rate with taxes/fees and without autopay required. The new plan does require the purchase of a MetroPCS branded phone and BYOD is not supported on this plan.
