Last year’s Samsung Galaxy Beam may get the Jelly Bean update soon, despite the fact that it still runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The DLP projector-equipped smartphone has been unveiled during Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona though it never managed to attract a critical mass of users. It was cool, but then again – its specs were not on par with other high-end products that were announced at that time, leaving it to geeks with specific needs (who need to have a projector with them at all times).
As I said it, the Galaxy Beam didn’t even get the Ice Cream Sandwich update, hinting us Sammy had hard time moving a ton of these. Perhaps with Android 4.1 on board, the company could rejuvenate interest in this device. Perhaps not.
It is said that the new Jelly Bean-packing firmware is currently being tested and that it should be released by the end of July. Considering the phone is making such a major leap forward, it’s likely you’ll need to use Samsung Kies software to perform the update.
