Just before the New Year, Sony has started rolling out Android 4.3 update for the Wi-Fi version of its Xperia Tablet Z (model numbers SGP311 and SGP312). The new software, build version 10.4.B.0.577, includes an array of tweaks and bug fixes along with few noticeable changes. For instance, there’s the whole new home launcher that looks very much like the one found on the Xperia Z1. Furthermore, users will get the Sony Smart Social camera, “Xperia Theme” support, the ability to launch multiple Small Apps, Restricted Profiles for multi-users, as well as the new version of battery STAMINA mode.
On the downside though, the app shortcut on the top left of the screen has been removed. We’re not sure why this was needed since many users relied on this icon to link to the most frequently used apps.
Anyway, at the moment the Android 4.3 update is only available through PC Companion (Sony Update Service) though we guess it will start rolling over-the-air soon afterwards.
Finally, we’re not sure whether all Wi-Fi models are covered with this update, like that Kitchen Edition model. If you own one of those, please let us know whether you too can join this game.
