Lenovo today announced its LTE-enabled Vibe Z handset will finally venture outside China into the rest of the world. The Vibe Z is a pretty solid device rocking a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display with a pixel density of 400 ppi. Body-wise it carries a thin, 7.9mm frame, and tucks away a powerful quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and an 802.11ac WiFi radio. The shooters on the front and back are nothing to sneeze at either, as the device’s rear lens packs a 13-megapixel f/1.3 camera, while the front-face camera stores an impressive 5MP.
In addition to the Vibe Z, Lenovo mentioned a host of budget-friendly mid-range devices set to hit other countries besides China. Leading the pack is the 5-inch A859, sporting a 720p IPS display, dual SIM slots, 8MP/1.6MP cameras, a quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage. Rounding out the list of phones is the 6-inch S930 and 4.7-inch S650 — both handsets carry marginal displays and lower res cameras.
Lenovo says the Vibe Z is set to hit many middle-eastern countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and the Philippines. The handset will come unlocked and priced at $549. As for the lower-end stuff hitting the world market, the A859 is priced at $219, while the S930 and S650 are priced $319 and $229 respectively.
This is just one small step for the Chinese-based manufacturer when it comes to gaining some kind of presence outside of China.
