After many rumors and leaked photos, Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy K Zoom, touting it as a “Camera-Specialized Smartphone.” Just like we’ve said in the past, this device is slimmer than its predecessor, Galaxy S4 Zoom, while boasting improved hardware under the hood.
Here are the highlights:
- 20.7-megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor
- 10x optical zoom
- Xenon flash
- 4.8-inch screen
- Hexa-core chip, 2GB of RAM
- LTE connectivity support (in addition to Wi-Fi)
- 2,430 mAh battery
- 8GB of expandable storage (with microSD cards)
Samsung failed to mention the pricing and availability information, but I’m sure we’ll get those details in no time at all.
In the meantime, let me answer the question you may have – should you buy this phone? Except if you *really* need optical zoom, don’t go for it. You’re much better off grabbing the Galaxy S5 instead. Or HTC One M8 for that matter. That at least is the way I see things. What do you say?
