We’ve already told you that Acer is looking to enter the wearables markets. Now we have a new report from the Chinese media suggesting that the company will launch a smart band, rather than smart watch, in mid-2014. As that’s the case with any other smart band, this unit will be able to connect to compatible smartphones and tablets.
The story goes on to say that Acer may team-up with a number of fitness centers and hospitals to spur adoption. That strategy could definitely work in the short-term, helping the Taiwanese company get a bunch of customers in record amount of time. Long term, however, they better have a really awesome device, one that could compete with the Fitbit and Jawbone products, as well as a number of emerging smart bands that more often than not offer more advanced movement tracking.
