Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G clears the FCC hurdle

The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G is gearing towards its launch in the U.S. having recently cleared the FCC hurdle. The unit government employed engineers got to play with rocks LTE connectivity support that works across LTE bands 2, 4, 5 and 17, meaning it is compatible with T-Mobile and AT&T 4G networks. Alas that doesn’t meant that either of the two carriers will actually add Huawei’s phablet to their offerings. Rather, folks looking to get one of these will likely have to get an unlocked, SIM free device.

For those of you who missed it, the Ascend Mate 2 4G comes with a big 6.1-inch 720p HD screen, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 quad-core chip clocked at 1.6GHz, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. There’s also a huge 4,050 mAh battery that supports Reverse Charging capability allowing you to charge other devices from the Mate 2. In China, the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G is selling for $445 sans any strings attached, but we’ve no idea how much the phone will cost in the U.S.
