On and on we hear that Samsung is finally launching its very first Tizen smartphone. And yes, we’ve heard it all before, and yes – this time is different… again. Really, the Korean company may finally show us what its own mobile platform can do in a smartphone next month when users in Russia and few other markets get to taste Tizen.
Apparently, Russia was a successful market for Samsung’s Bada OS-based Wave series and the company is hoping to repeat the success with Tizen phone(s). If everything goes as planned, Tizen smartphone will then come to Brazil and few other developing countries.
Specs wise, this device will be very similar to last year’s Galaxy S4 offering great user experience for reasonable amount of cash. Or so we think. Samsung can’t really ask a premium for a smartphone that runs a nascent platform. It will want to push that phone despite lower margins to get more users on board and later monetize on their usage of apps and services. We’ll see how that goes…
